Denial of education to the tribal children.
Not
only their life standards but also their educational standards in bottomless
pit.
GTR
schools in pathetic conditions…..
Crores
and crores of Rupees of corruption. Economic plans for various developments in
crores of rupees. Right to education act 2009 projects compulsory free
education for all below 14 years. To implement this another share of crores. As
such you see crore every where. There is no value for crores in this country.
In such a situation education to the tribal communities is entrusted to the Adi
dravidar and tribal welfare department. The basic issue of filling up the
vacancies of teachers is not met out despite the fact crores of rupees are
spent. While demanding for posting of teachers an one word answer of no
allocation of funds is the answer. As neglected in the society this
particular tribal communities are denied with their educational rights too. All
these schools are not at all properly taken care by the Government. We bring
forth the condition less condition of a GTR school which indicates present
unbearable situation prevailing in similar schools. A GTR school was founded by
Adi dravidar and tribal welfare department in 1955 at Hasanur in
Thalavadi union of Sathyamangalam taluk in Erode district. This was the first
of it’s kinds schools. Presently from 1997 it has been upgraded as higher
secondary school. Running short of teachers is a continuous problem. From 6th to 10th
standard there are only 2 teachers posted who under go the task of
teaching 5 subjects in each class.
There are 400
students studying from 6th to 10th standard where
at least a
minimum of 10 teachers are very well
required. Alas …to overcome this burning problem SUDAR NGO
at Sathyamangalam appointed 2 teachers at their cost. Also the parents teachers
association appointed 2 teachers. Particularly in 9th standard in
this school there about 103 students sitting in one class room in
congested condition. It is quite intolerable.
This
problem was focused to the district collector and to the Adi dravidar and
tribal welfare department but in vain. This running short of teachers is a
problem prevailing not only in this school but the survey reports 250 vacancies
in GTR schools in entire Tamilnadu. The Government washes it’s hands while
requesting for appointing teachers. Keeping in mind the denial of education to
the tribal children on hill tops SUDAR NGO appointed 12 teachers in 10 such
schools.
It
is not the teachers alone but also proper sanitation facility is not available
for students. There is no compound wall. No drinking water. No
furniture. Even to play, there is no play ground. 10 computer systems
contributed are lying idle because there is no teacher. In boarding
there is no hygiene. Due to this students get all kinds of skin diseases. There
is no proper quarters for teachers. These teachers are not paid hill allowance
as being paid in other hill stations.
So
like this the word NO is heard every where. The biggest issue is there is no
one to question this. All these schools are isolated and neglected. In such a
bad situation imagine the educational standards of these schools. How can
students studying in this school can compete with other students.
In
spite of repeated laws and rules formulated for compulsory education vide Right
to Education Act 2009 practicalities prevailing is really paining. Education is
the one and only key that can bring change in the society. Where as this
education is always an un ripened fruit for the tribal people. If this continues……
